Actriz de cine francesa. Fue descubierta por Roger Vadim cuando apareció en la portada de una revista a los 15 años. Debutó en las pantallas en 1952. Vadim creó su imagen de "gatita sexual para sus películas Y Dios creó a la mujer (1956) y Les bijoutiers du clair de lune (1958), cuyos éxitos de taquilla la convirtieron en estrella internacional. Desplegó su talento como actriz en largometrajes como La verdad (1960), El desprecio (1963) y ¡Viva María! (1965). Fundó una organización defensora del buen trato a los animales en 1987, en su calidad de activista de dicha causa.
